Haitian Mountain Blue Coffee
The coffee is purchased as Direct Trade: The beans are purchased directly from farmer-owned cooperatives, not brokers. With Fair Trade pricing, farmers are paid a higher price for their beans than what is offered by brokers; the higher price helps the farmers and their communities.
There is a small portion of the price that is put into a grant fund for the Haitians and is used to pay for projects that support coffee production, land management, and small business development.
The Haitian Mountain Blue coffee comes from the same type of coffee plant & is grown in a similar region as the wildly successful Jamaican Blue coffee – but at a fraction of the price. Jamaican Blue sells for as much as $69 a pound. Haitian Blue sells for $15.99 a pound.
The coffee is from a single origin and is natural; natural crops mean a better coffee and a better environment. Put simply, Haitian farmers can’t afford chemicals; instead, they use natural and organic methods like composting and shade-grown farming techniques.
Our Rare Mountain Blue roast is rich, nutty & semi-sweet; cool nights at high altitudes produce gentle & FLAVORFUL coffees! The coffee is perfectly balanced in body and acidity.
Haitian Mountain Blue coffee growers hand pick coffee cherries; the wet processing techniques yield a unique blue-green colored bean.
