Haitian Mountain Bleu Coffee
The coffee is purchased as Direct Trade: The beans are purchased directly from farmer owned cooperatives not brokers. They are paid a higher price for they beans then what is offered with Fair Trade pricing, the higher price helps the farmers and their communities.
There is a small portion of the price is put into a grant fund for the Haitian’s and is used in the form of projects that support coffee production, land management, and small business development.
The Haitian Mountain Blue coffee comes from the same type of coffee plant & is grown in a similar region as the wildly successful Jamaican Blue coffee – but at a fraction of the price. Jamaican Blue sells for as much as $69 a pound. Haitian Blue sells for $15.99 a pound.
The coffee is from a single origin and is natural; natural crops mean a better coffee, a better environment. Put simply, Haitian farmers can’t afford chemicals; they use natural and organic methods like composting and shade-grown farming techniques.
